Join the "MASTERY CLUB"!

An exciting enrichment activity began just before the holiday break--The Mastery Club! As described by its creator, “This is a club for students who are interested in achieving ‘above and beyond’ the normal classroom expectations.” Students are challenged to discover a lot about math, literacy, science, social studies, music, arts, and many other skills! Most of the work for this club takes place at home, however students will have opportunities to work at school when other work is completed. Please find more information (and tons of helpful research links!) here. Within its introductory week, we’ve already gained 10 members!! Keep it up, Masters!
Each student has a folder equipped with a notebook to record their findings and a checklist of topics (an updated checklist will be sent home next week). You can find additional challenges here:
Students know the drill, but in order to be eligible as a "master" of a topic, all items need to be spelled correctly and all proper nouns need capital letters.

Many students elected to take their Mastery folder home over the vacation week. If your child did not, but is interested in completing a challenge or two, paper submissions can be added to their folder :)

Good luck, Masters! I hope you enjoy exploring many research tools (websites, encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, etc.) while learning more about our wondrous world!
