When we arrived back from February break, we headed straight into the cafe for a very special assembly.
The Museum of Science Traveling Program had come to visit SMS 2nd Graders! This was a great opportunity to revisit all that was learned during our states of matter unit. The presenter was SO impressed by all the knowledge these kids had!
Some of our second grade super scientists even knew that our presenter was using liquid nitrogen. They all enjoyed watching several experiments to learn just how this substance operates!
Did liquid nitrogen boil in the tea kettle? |
Christina blowing on the liquid nitrogen. |
A balloon filled with water and a balloon filled with dish soap after being placed in the liquid nitrogen |
Trey testing a rubber ball before and after being placed in liquid nitrogen. |
How many balloons can fit into the liquid nitrogen container? |
What happens as the liquid nitrogen fills the balloon? Cover your ears first! |
On behalf of the entire Second Grade Team, we owe a huge, "Thank you!" to the Museum of Science for their extraordinary performance, and to the
SMS PTO for making this event possible!
